Adopt a Pet
Click the buttons below to see what animals are available to adopt. Visit Missoula Animal Services during open hours (Monday through Friday, 12 to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, 12 to 4 p.m.) if you would like to meet an animal.
Process & Fees
We review the pre-adoption interest forms on a first-come, first-served basis. Click here to submit your pre-adoption interest form.
Our review process typically takes 1-2 business days before we begin calling interested adopters. During this phone call, we determine if an animal is a good match for you and your household.
We will discuss things like:
- The animal’s medical history
- The adoption contract
- Any pet supplies you may need
- Living situation (i.e. homeowner, renter, etc.)
- If current dogs at your residence are licensed
- If you currently have more than two dogs within the city limits, a multiple pet permit is needed
Click here to fill out and submit the adoption application.
Once your application is emailed, contact the shelter to schedule an adoption appointment. We will place the animal on hold and get the pet ready for pick-up. The animal will be ready to meet you when you arrive. We will fill out any additional paperwork onsite.
Dogs
All available dogs are spayed/neutered. Adult dogs are up to date on rabies vaccines. Dog adoption fees are $100 with a $20 licensing fee.
Cats
All available cats are spayed/neutered. Adult cats are up to date on rabies vaccines. Kittens who are too young for rabies vaccines will go home with a voucher for a discounted rabies vaccine at their next check-up. Cat adoption fees are $75.
Small Animals
Sometimes small animals come to our shelter, like rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, lizards, and more! We’ve even had goats! Any animal categorized as “other” will appear on the cat page. Adoption pricing will vary depending on the pet.
