Trailer Courts & Campgrounds

Trailer Courts and Campgrouds

A trailer court is defined in state law as a parcel of land upon which two or more spaces are available to the public and designated for occupancy by trailers or mobile homes for use as residences.

A campground is a parcel of land available to and principally used by the public for camping, where persons can camp, secure tents or cabins, or park trailers for camping and sleeping purposes.

Inspections

Trailer Courts and Campground are licensed by the State and inspected annually by the Missoula Public Health.

Owners/managers will receive the inspection report which will outline any compliance issues as well as if a follow-up inspection is necessary.

  • Tall Grass/Weed - To limit harborage for pests and control weeds.
  • Furniture - Items like couches, armchairs, mattresses, box springs, etc. cannot sit outside exposed to the elements.
  • Tires - Tires can become a breeding ground for mosquitos and other pests when they fill up with water. Please stack and cover any ties.

Clean up days are a quick and easy way to resolve solid waste issues.

If your establishment has one or multiple community clean-up days where dumpsters are brought on site and massive cleanup efforts are made, please let us know in advance!

Change in Owernership

Contact Missoula Public Health if your establishment is being sold or changing ownership. Missoula Public Health will update the license information to reflect the new ownership.

If you are interested in purchasing a Trailer Court or Campground, you will need to fill out an application and submit it to Missoula Public Health.

Please note

Missoula Public Health is just one of the agencies that has regulations that apply to public accommodation establishments. There may be building permits, zoning restrictions, business licensing and other requirements that apply. If your business is within city limits, contact the City of Missoula building department and business licensing. If you are outside city limits, contact Missoula County.

If you are operating a tourist home within the City of Missoula, in addition to your health license, the city has a required Short Term Rental Registration.
