Postpartum & Infants

Welcome Home Baby!

From the hospital or birth center to your home, our Public Health Nurses are here for you and your baby.  Within two weeks of the birth of your child, you can receive a visit from a nurse. They will check in and see how you and your baby are doing and answer your questions. They will help you find other resources you may need.

Free to all families in Missoula County no matter where you birth your baby or if you chose infant adoption.

You can get help with:

  • Feeding your baby
  • Weight checks and development
  • Your postpartum recovery
  • Answering any questions or concerns
  • Get you connected to other Missoula County services

 

 

Infant Feeding & Nutrition

Breastfeeding and Infant Bottle Feeding Support
  • Certified Lactation Specialists and nurses are available for in-home visits, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Infant formula feeding support includes safe formula preparation and tips for feeding.  
  • Connect with our Registered Dietitian who will answer any questions about infant nutrition, child growth, weight concerns and breastfeeding nutrition during the postpartum period.
Newborn Helpline
  • Providing lactation and infant care support. Call us with any questions you may have.  The Certified Lactation Specialist can help you over the phone or arrange an in-home visit at no charge to families.

Baby Bistro

This is a local free parent-baby support group for learning the ins-and-outs of nourishing your baby, led by a certified lactation specialist. This group meets every Tuesday at the Missoula Food Bank & Community Center (1720 Wyoming St.) from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
