About Missoula Public Health
Missoula Public Health (MPH) is the city-county health department, which supports the health of people, environments and communities. MPH provides a wide range of services and programs, including an immunization clinic, restaurant inspections, suicide prevention, air quality monitoring, septic and sewer permitting and more.
MPH is an accredited public health department. This achievement was granted by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), signifying MPH’s commitment to providing high-quality public health services.
Accreditation is voluntary and indicates that MPH has met rigorous standards for excellence in their services. MPH received its initial accreditation in March 2014 and was among the first 33 health departments in the United States to achieve this recognition.
MPH was awarded reaccreditation in 2020 and was one of just 52 health departments across the U.S. to have achieved reaccreditation status. MPH has developed a performance management and quality improvement system to ensure it is constantly working to improve services and systems to provide the best possible health support for those in Missoula County.
Public health accreditation is a voluntary process that measures the performance of state, territorial, and local health departments against a national set of evidence-based public health standards. Public health accreditation improves the service, value, and accountability of public health agencies. Health departments are held accountable to meeting standards in 12 domains and over 100 measures. Accreditation is valid for five years.
