MPH provides personalized public health services tailored to meet the diverse needs of our community. Our mission is to build conditions that support the health of people, environments and communities.
Part of this requires focusing on health equity and social determinants of health. Health equity is means striving for the highest possible standard of health for all and giving special attention to the needs of those at greatest risk of poor health, based on social determinants. Principles of health equity include giving community members a voice, forging authentic relationships, changing policy and appreciating diversity and inclusion.
Social determinants of health are conditions in the environments in which people are born, live, learn, work, play and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.
