How to renew your dog license online
Posted on June 01, 2026
Thank you for taking time to license your animal with Missoula Animal Services. Dog licensing is essential for you, your pet, and your community. If your dog gets lost, a license tag on their collar is the fastest and easiest way to get them back home. Unlike microchips, which require a special scanner device to read them, a license tag is visible for everyone. Licensing fees are a primary source of income for Missoula Animal Services. Licensing fees help cover the cost of food, medical care and necessities for the animals in our care.
How to renew your license online
- You will receive a letter in the mail when your dog's license is about to expire.
- Before you get started, make sure you have:
- Your person number. This is on your renewal notice letter. You can also call 406-541-7387 to ask one of your staff members for it.
- The license number. This is also found on the renewal notice.
- A copy of your dog's current rabies vaccine notice from your vet.
- Click here to log into the licensing portal.
- Do not select "create new customer account" unless you are licensing your animal for the first time and have no prior experience with Missoula Animal Services.
